Sheffield’s Taylor&Emmet LLP is merging social housing with social media to help local property professionals get to grips with key office dos and don’ts.

The solicitors are hosting and sponsoring a free breakfast seminar for Women in Social Housing (WISH), a support network for experts in the public and private sectors.

“Social Media and Employment Law in the Workplace” will be held at the Crucible Theatre on Wednesday (October 12) to provide delegates with advice on using platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, through the presentation of case studies and real life examples.

Led by Taylor&Emmet employment law specialist, Tom Draper, the event will summarise the current legal position on social media, explain what is expected of employees while at work and provide options for managers who believe a member of staff has overstepped the mark.

Associate solicitor, Tom, said: “This interactive event is open to anyone working in social housing, regardless of gender and we are expecting an excellent turnout from this proactive and well connected industry. Our aim is to engage, inform and interest attendees in what is a relatively new area of employment law by demonstrating how a mistimed comment can impact on the individual’s reputation and that of his or her employer.”

Taylor&Emmet’s WISH seminar will run from 8am to 10am and includes light refreshments, plus an opportunity for delegates to network. For more information or to make a reservation, telephone (0114) 218 4000, email: events@tayloremmet.co.uk or visit: www.tayloremmet.co.uk
