Property experts from Sheffield solicitors, Taylor&Emmet LLP, are inviting fellow industry professionals to a timely review of tax affecting the sector.

As part of its T&E Property Focus series, the firm is holding a Property Tax Seminar on April 7 to provide an update on changes to the levies affecting commercial and residential buildings.

The free breakfast event is taking place at The Crucible’s Adelphi Room and will feature guest speaker, David Robinson from Shorts Accountants, who will discuss tax on commercial premises, buy-to-let residential property and new stamp duty rules.

James Parden, Taylor&Emmet’s property litigation specialist, is hosting the event. He said: “The forthcoming changes to stamp duty have been relatively well publicised, but not everyone is clear on the finer details. In addition, the property sector is far less prepared for the introduction of other new tax laws that have received little media attention. We aim to inform and entertain colleagues from across the sector, bringing them up to speed on current legislation, whilst providing an opportunity to meet new contacts and share ideas.”

Last year, Taylor&Emmet fundraised for Rain Rescue, donating £2,000 in December to help the animal shelter continue saving the lives of South Yorkshire’s abandoned dogs and cats. It has run its annual charity initiative for a number of years, supporting a wide range of causes, from local hospice, St Luke’s to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Taylor&Emmet team reaches all time high

Taylor&Emmet LLP is proving there is strength in numbers, after staff levels at the Sheffield solicitors surpassed 200 for the first time in its 130 year history.
